Nicholas had been coaching tennis and teaching mathematics in in Northern Virginia since 2005. Most recently he was the head coach of both the boys and girls varsity tennis team at The School Without Walls in Washington DC where he also taught mathematics (AP Calculus, Algebra I and Algebra 2). In 2010 he was honored as being the 2010 Washington Post's Coach of the Year for the District of Columbia after his team went undefeated and swept the divisional championships.
In 2006 he began coaching at McLean Swim and Tennis as an assistant pro to Marty Hublitz, and after several years was promoted to being the head professional. In 2012 Nicholas received his certification in Junior Development from the United States Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) receiving the top rating of Professional. In 2013 he was honored by the USPTR by being named as the 2013 Virginia Member of the Year for his services to the game of tennis. He currently holds four professional certifications from the PTR: Junior Development, 11-17, High Performance, and Adult Development. In 2018 he became certified by the United State Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) receiving there highest rating (Elite Professional)
In 2017 he moved back to Michigan with his family to take a teaching position at Whitehall High School where he teaches algebra 2 and AP Calculus. In 2018 he ran summer tennis programs at both Mona Shores and Whitehall High Schools respectively. He was a volunteer assistant coach for the Whitehall boy’s team in the fall of 2018.
Nicholas also owns his own mobile proshop where he sells everything tennis. He resides with his family in Norton Shores.
