Girls Stay Perfect in League
with 60-26 Win over Catholic
The Western Michigan Christian girls made short work o their Lakes Eight Conference rivalry matchup Friday night, defeating Muskegon Catholic Central by a final score of 60-26.
The lead came early and ballooned late as the Warriors led 15-4 at the first break, 34-12 at halftime and 42-21 heading into the fourth quarter.
Taylor Folkema led the way with 21 points, nine rebounds while Meghan Heiss racked up nine assists and seven steals.
Anna Sytsema scored 20 points and added a unique stat to her line as she was honored as Western Michigan Christian’s Homecoming Queen after the game.
“It was a great way to start Homecoming,” said WMC head coach Jeremy Goorman. “Our defense was solid and multiple girls played well. Anna had a great game and capped it off with taking Homecoming Queen.
"Alyssa Eekhoff is starting to move well without the ball and is getting more rebounds. Meghan really does a nice job with setting up the offense and distributing. She and Taylor Folkema are incredible on the defensive end.”
The victory improves the Warriors to 11-1 overall and 6-0 in league play. They return to action Tuesday to host Holland Christian.
