Warriors Split with North Muskegon

GAME 1: North Muskegon 3, WMC 2

Jamo Goorman and Nathan VanderWeide led Warrior hitting in Game 1 with two each. Jaxon Duer pitched five scoreless innings in the loss. The Warriors held a lead into the final inning, where North Muskegon orchestrated a walk-off ending.

GAME 2: WMC 5, North Muskegon 3

VanderWeide picked up the win in Game 2, throwing four innings with three strikeouts. Goorman connected for two hits, while Nick Moser and Michael Kamps each had one.

“It was nice to bounce back and win Game 2 after losing the late lead in Game 1,” said WMC head coach Chris VanHekken. “We felt our defense let us down in Game 1.

“Jaxon Duer was great for us tonight on the mound. I brought him back in Game 2 with runners on in the sixth and he shut it down for us. He had eight strikeouts on the night in a total of six and one-third innings. Nathan also pitched fantastic tonight.”

The Warriors are now 12-6 overall.
