Warrior Tennis Blanked by Maroons
The WMC boys tennis team took on Holland Christian on Monday afternoon, falling by a final score of 8-0.
In the singles flights, No. 1 player Andrew Hill fell 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 Christopher Newhouse lost 6-1, 6-2; No. 3 Jaxon Duer fell 6-4, 6-1; and No. 4 Tyler Newhouse put up the best fight, falling 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, No. 1 pair Michael Kamps and Silas Jeltema pushed their second set to a tiebreaker, falling 6-3, 7-5. No. 3 pair Jacob Tejchma and Sean Kreiger did the same, eventually falling 6-2, 7-5. The No. 2 pair of Alexander Miller and Jonas Jones fell by a score of 6-0, 6-3. WMC did not compete in No. 4 doubles.
COACH MATT SMITH: "Although we had a tough loss today, WMC played extremely well against a team that historically has had a really strong tennis program.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today. For a young team, we've had a lot of growth and progress in the first couple of weeks of our season and we are excited for the rest of our season."
