Warriors Sweep the Field at Holton Invite

The varsity Warrior volleyball team battled from behind a few times Saturday to win the Holton Invitational.

Winner's bracket quarterfinal - WMC defeated Newaygo 25-23, 25-12

Winner's bracket semifinal - WMC defeated Oakridge 25-20, 23-25, 15-6

Winner's bracket final - WMC defeated Hesperia 25-18, 14-25, 17-15 

Final - WMC defeated Hesperia 25-23, 25-18
 
"The Warriors had a great day at Holton High School today for their invitational," WMC coach Trent Smillie said. "We had a great comeback in the first set of the day being down 12-22 to win 25-22 with two servers each splitting those points.  We had a few more games later in the day, where we dug ourselves out of a hole with grit.  That is a sign of a champion and today, we were." 
 
"Meghan Heiss was amazing at the serving line as well as everywhere else.  Anna Sytsema was hitting balls faster than officials could see them.  Taylor Folkema and Alisha Leffring were blocking like beasts.  Grace VanBeek, was running past her teammates to save balls.  The entire team played so hard today and contributed toward our win.  We are very proud of these girls!"
