WMC Splits Thursday Double Header with Ludington
The Warriors took the first game of the double header, 5-3. The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added 1 more run in the top of the 3rd before the Orioles came back scoring 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Warriors put 2 more runs on the board in the top of the 5th inning. The Orioles added 1 more run in the bottom of the 7th inning to finish out the scoring.
Sam Sipe (Jr.) picked up his 3rd win of the season, pitching the complete game, allowing 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, with 6 strikeouts. The Warriors were led at the plate by Sam Liggett (Sr.) and Samuel VanOrman (Sr.) with three hits each while Sipe and Alex Wagonmaker (Fr.) each had two RBI's.
The second game saw the Orioles jump out to an early lead to take it, 6-3. The Warriors notched 1 run in the top of the first inning only to have Ludington score 5 in the bottom half. The Warriors added a run in the second and third inning but couldn't get anything else going. Ludington put an insurance run on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Liggett and Caleb McKay (Fr.) had two hits each. Sipe, Jamie Cho (Sr.), and Ethan Hill (Sr.) had an RBI each. Wagonmaker took the loss.
Coach Hill- "We knew we needed a split tonight to stay in the hunt for a conference title. We did what we needed to do in the first game. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done in the second; putting ourselves in a hole early. However, we never hung our heads and we kept fighting to make a game of it."
Record: 6-2 overall, 4-1 conference
