Warrior Baseball Takes Both in Double Header Wednesday
The Warriors took both games Wednesday evening against Manistee, 11-4 and 9-8 (5innings). In the first game, WMC opened up a 5-2 lead in the second inning and scored 5 in the top of the 7th inning to fend off a charge from a pesky Chippewas team. Samuel VanOrman (Sr.) led the team with three hits with Ethan Hill (Sr.) and Caleb McKay (Fr.) each collecting two; McKay had a base-clearing triple and five RBI's in the game. Sam Sipe (Jr.) took the win going 3 2/3 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strike outs.
In the second game that was shortened due to daylight, the Warriors and Chippewas went back and forth scoring just enough in the top of the 5th inning to secure the win. WMC was paced at the plate by Sipe with three hits and McKay, Sam LIggett (Sr.), and Jace VanderWeide (Sr.) with 2 hits each. VanderWeide led the team with 4 RBI's. Hill took the win allowing 9 hits, 8 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
Coach Hill- "Manistee is a much improved ball club who really swing the bats well. We were fortunate tonight to walk away with two wins. We collected 21 hits on the night but we left the bases loaded three times. We have to do a better job making those hits count and finishing when we have the opportunity to put runs on the board."
Next Game: Thursday at Home vs. Manistee (4pm)
Record: Overall 8-4, Conference 6-1
