Warriors End Regular Season, Prepare for Districts
The Western Michigan Christian and Muskegon Catholic Central co-op softball team wrapped up its regular season with a 5-0 road loss to Hart.
WMCC had eight hits, but couldn't push a run across the plate.
Catherine Bradford-Royle (WMC) led the Warriors from the plate with three hits and Stephanie Weesies (WMC) added two hits. Also collecting hits were Hannah Nestell (WMC), Abby Sweetman (WMC) and Rebecca Ter Haar (WMC).
Sophie Hawke (WMC) and Maria Sanocki (MCC) shared time in the circle, combining to strike out three.
WMCC finishes the regular season at 9-18 overall and 3-9 in Lakes Eight Conference play.
"While I think we could have done better against Hart, I was pleased with our effort today," said WMCC head coach Jeff Nestell. "We had some hard-hit balls, but unfortunately, we hit them right to the defense and couldn't get any of our runners across the plate. Our focus now is on preparing for districts on Saturday."
WMCC will play Montague at noon on Saturday in the district semifinals at Ravenna High School. The Wildcats defeated North Muskegon 18-8 on Tuesday to advance.
