Coach Gould, "It was great to be back competing, this meet has a great atmosphere, and we faced some great teams tonight. It was important to get a read on our early season training, and the boys ran faster versus last year at this event. Jonathan Clausing launched his senior season finishing as our lone medalist on the evening, scoring an 18th place finish in the small school section, running 17:57.90. Sophomore Matthias Morse picked right up where he left off last season running a new person best of 18:04.90 and just missing the medals. We competed a little shorthanded, missing a couple of athletes, so when we are at full strength we should be able to close the gap on regional rival Kent City."
Girls Twilight Small Schools Results:
- Hudsonville Unity Christian - 38
- WMC - 62
- Kalamazoo Homeschool Sports - 96
- Kent City - 101
- Wyoming Potter's House - 116
- Holland Christian - 123
- Saugatuck - 202
Coach Gould, "Like the boys, the girls were able to better their performances compared to last year on this course. Sophomore Grace VanderKooi led the Warriors to a 2nd place team score, winning the small school section in 19:08.20, also finishing as medalists were junior Grace Folkema, 8th in 21:10.30 and senior Brianna Zuidema, 15th in 21:53.20. That was a new personal best for Grace Folkema, who continues to make big jumps, as she did all of last fall and in track during the spring. Reaching the team podium was certainly a great way to cap off the night for the girls, and an excellent launch to the season."
